Communities We Serve

Anchored in the Lutheran faith and grounded in the foundation of Lutheran education, the Luther House of Study serves the communities of future ministry professionals, current ministry professionals, and congregations. Each of these areas of service is anchored by the establishment of an endowed Luther scholar chair at Augustana College.

Mission: To strengthen Lutheran leadership and ministries throughout the Northern Plains region for the proclamation of the Gospel.

Future Ministry Professionals

Luther House of Study actively recruits, encourages, and supports a new generation of leaders by providing programs that help both graduate and undergraduate students pursuing theological study to overcome geographical hindrances and reduce financial burdens.

Current Ministry Professionals

LHOS renews, revitalizes and nurtures those people currently engaged in professional ministry. Pastors and other rostered professionals join in small group conversation and support in Together in Ministry South Dakota (TiM). All involved with TiM are invited to large group gatherings twice a year.

The Proclamation on the Plains Conference is open to clergy for continuing education credit, and serves as one of the two large group gatherings for Together in Ministry participants.

Congregations

LHOS enhances and supports congregations by providing adult and family education opportunities at the congregational level.

LHOS also sponsors the Proclamation on the Plains Conference, an annual conference open to clergy and lay people, which serves to provide accessible, engaging theological discussion.
