LHOS Pillars
Anchored in the Lutheran faith and inspired by the Lutheran tradition, the Luther House of Study is supported by four pillars designed to inspire a new generation of church leadership, support seminarians and undergraduates, renew current clergy, and enhance ministries to area congregations.

Our Four Pillars are as follows:

Inspire future ministry professionals.
LHOS will actively recruit, encourage and support a new generation of leaders. By collaborating with Lutheran seminaries in the Upper Midwest the LHOS looks to establish programs and educational tracks for those seeking a theological education. These programs will help students overcome geographical hindrances and reduce financial burdens.

Uphold our Lutheran Heritage.
The LHOS provides a Luther scholar to educate and advise undergraduate students at Augustana and seminary students at SFS. Courses about the Lutheran Reformation, Lutheran Confessional writings and Lutheran worship are offered regularly at both institutions.

Renew pastoral leaders.
The LHOS will establish a resource and retreat center for area clergy to visit when seeking enrichment and renewal. Regional ministers can apply for a residency scholarship which will include room and board, allowing pastors to take full advantage of the seminary's & college's resources for the purposes of continuing education.

Support congregations.
The LHOS offers a variety of resources to area congregations. Joining with Synod lay educational programs and outdoor ministries, the LHOS offers educational opportunities for lay leaders and congregations throughout the region. By utilizing the Outreach Ministry teams of Augustana and the Center for Liturgical Arts, the LHOS offers worship enhancing opportunities.
